Sunset, Sunrise
Not exactly Skywatch Friday material, but I thought you’d enjoy these two photos, taken at opposite ends of the same night:
A Great Blue Heron glows in the orange-pink evening light along Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge’s Black Point Wildlife Drive. Wow, that’s a mouthful that even a heron would take a while to gulp down!
The next morning, a Reddish Egret occupies very nearly the same spot, its search for breakfast rippling the water’s surface and thus the light itself, sending wobbling hula hoops of sunlight up its body and back to the sky.
Even if you can’t be outside birding today, I hope you’re at least close enough to a window to are able to take note of the way the light changes throughout the day–a miracle we can all experience each day we’re here.

Lovely reflection though
Fabulous light in both shots and a wonderful reflection in the top one; but I absolutely LOVE the bottom one with its hula hoops of reflected light. Yummy.
Beautiful photos. That first one is such a soothing image.
Jeff, they are spectacular. I have a fondness for the GBH and just love that photo. Wow. You are right, the sun creates a mood.
